Ah, Mannahatta (heel) blue skies and the big egg bagel (toe) rodent station located here (heel) styled stone everywhere (toe heel toe) "French bulldogs must be put down early too" (heel!) does your phone love you? (no) subway, subway, subway, subway (look at me) I'll ride the subway ‘til it falls into the sea (look at me) what a pair of fashion plates (zip) beneath the sunlit subway grate (fade) nothing dies in old New York (it’s just raze and rebirth) downtown (mine) hole in the ground (old times) oh, for a tuna sandwich on soft white with onions, tomato, extra mayo (yum) “JJ's is gone?” (stunned) "What's all this about?" (Wall Street hordes) "There's a fire on the seventh floor" (six trucks) "No smoke?" (barely any sky) “I don't see nothing" (funny guy) "There it is" (coughing window) "Oh, yeah" (gotta go) in New York, I am fast-walking, loud-talking (slovenly) folding pizza in the crosswalk (burning me) pretty girl and bankers (three on one) pretty tourist girls (avec leurs parents) pretty homegirls (yelling) "Hey sexy!” (who, me?) “No, I wasn't talking to you" (there’s nobody else here) flattery at the Battery (my teeth get chattery) subway, subway, subway, subway (express) ask the kid on the platform where he got that patter from (screech) uptown again (East Side) schoolgirls, socks down, jumping around ("We're out of school! We're out of school!”) pretty girls looking at pretty girls in paintings (Sargent) pretty girls looking at decapitated heads (trust rusts) Snap the Whip and shattered ships (poor bastard) trumpeting heads of Vanuatu (eternally lost in this museum) Greeks naked, Romans nude (ye gods) walking through the park (singing, almost dark) an ancient lady and her dying groom (gloom) who's buried in Grant's tomb? (don’t assume)
